The seven lines across the winter sky are not clouds but jet trails.  Sometimes it's possible to count five or six jets all streaking along at the same time in the same section of sky.  Ever thought that enough is ehough?

GENERAL INFORMATION

ICHIYO SHAKUHACHI were made at this location using a resin cast bore process until about 10 years ago.  They are no longer made here, although a few of the most responsive and stable remain here as examples for reference.  One or another of them may be shown for sale here from time to time.

BEISHU SHAKUHACHI are two-piece flutes, often called ji-ari, currently made here using more or less traditional materials and techniques

GOSHU SHAKUHACHI are one-piece flutes only, nobe shakuhachi, and are currently made here using the ji-mori techniques.

DELIVERY.  You may select two flutes for audition.  Give me the Flute Numbers and within a few days of receiving your request for audition, the flutes will be posted to the address you specify using the Japanese Postal System Express Mail Service (EMS, which is registered air mail).  You will be notified of the date of posting and given the tracking number by email after posting has been accomplished.  You may notify me of your decision to purchase or to return within one calendar month of date of posting from Japan.  You need not make any payment until Terms of Payment have been agreed.

ASSESSMENT.  If you wish to have a third party opinion concerning any flute you wish to audition, this service is available for the cost of sending the flute to you.  Current assessors include Riley Lee, Michael Gould and Larry Tyrrell.  Determine which flutes you wish to have assessed, and they will be posted to the assessor and then on to you.  You may also designate your own assessor, someone like your teacher or other shakuhachi player you trust.

RESPONSIBILITY.  You will be responsible for delivery costs if you purchase a flute, and return costs should any flute be deemed incompatible with your needs and habits and therefore be returned in good condition.  You will also be responsible for the costs of any repair resulting from damage while any flute on audition has been in your care.  Returned flutes should be packaged as delivered.  Country of Origin should be Japan in order to avoid customs clearance complications.

TERMS OF PAYMENT.

Full Payment in one installment is preferred.  Should one single payment not be possible, payment over a period of time is possible as noted below.

Shakuhachi valued at less than ¥300000.
Minimum Down Payment = ¥90000.  Minimum Amount of Monthly Installment Payment = ¥20000.

Shakuhachi valued at ¥300000 or more.
Minimum Down Payment = ¥150000.  Minimum Amount of Monthly Installment Payment = ¥25000.

GUARANTEE.  Any new Bei Shu or Go Shu Shakuhachi purchased will be fully guaranteed against any and all damage for a period of one year from date of purchase.  Such damage commonly includes, but is not limited to, cracks and splits in the bamboo itself and loose connection joints.  Return postal costs are not included.

SHAKUHACHI NUMBERS.  The number before the dot is unique most of the time.  The number after the dot designates flute length.  There is no length 23.  An N at the end of the number means the shakuhachi is nobe, without a middle joint.
